'Fashion Mode' at London Fashion Week Sept 2010

Hi guys,

More pictures from LFW and also some videos (I'm getting addicted to videos now!)

Four new designers displayed their collections at the 'Fashion Mode', which is a London Fashion Week showcase in conjunction with Vauxhall Fashion Scout. The show was yesterday, Sunday 19th.

Let's go... 2 collections for the ladies and 2 for the gents. Yes! Boys get their turn at PPortobello.
Enjoy!

Florian Jayet

Jayet describes his general style as inspired by the futuristic concepts of Paco Rabanne and Thierry Mugler. (Oh yes, I can see a lot of Mugler indeed!)
The inspiration was to use the garments as armour, much like an exoskeleton.

Amazingly constructed garments...

And a quick video, of the end of the show.

Carlotta Barone

The collection was called 'wear my skin' and it's idea is to fight against the racism.

I loved this 'tattooed' skin body, used throughout the show.

And another quick video!

...And some for the boys...

Elson Figueiredo

His collection was inspired by the people who would travel with circuses and amusements shows. He describes his pieces as a mish-mash of casual workwear and traditional tailoring.

James Hillman

James Hillman based his collection on the 'Teddy boy' look. Interesting choice of fabrics mixing perceptions of masculine and feminine through using silk, leather, chiffon and jersey.

So what do you guys think of the new designers? Have you already got a favourite?

Kinder Aggugini at London Fashion Week Sept 2010

Hi guys,

These are my last pictures, from the shows of the weekend. I still have loads more to post about London Fashion Week... from amazing footwear to loads of street style pictures, a couple of fashion events and not forgetting I still have to announce the giveaway winner... so bear with me and stay tuned!

Tonight I'm posting pictures from Kinder Aggugini's show. The show was held on Sunday 19th, at Somerset House.

The inspiration for the designer was a book, in which an explorer travels to Africa. Therefore the use of print and colours was bold and very much present even in romantic dresses. I particularly loved the last dress pictured and the accessories, specially the huge African inspired ring necklaces, made all in leather.

And the last of my videos on LFW.

Hope you all enjoyed!

See you soon.

John Rocha at LFW

Hi guys,

It's London Fashion week and today I was at Somerset House. It was so cool just to be there taking pictures for street style and catching up with friends.

Unexpectedly, I ended up getting a ticket for the John Rocha show, on the very last minute and got in just before the show got started!
The collection was very minimalistic. Dresses were predominant, loads of transparency with the clever use of crochet and net. Colours were basic, black, white and cream and the accessories were huge with these meringue hats. The shoes were gorgeous!

I also did a quick video, just of the end of the show.

And it doesn't stop there, I was glad I spotted Marian Kihogo. I have been a fan of her blog for while and we also chat via the blogsphere... So, it was just lovely to meet her in person!

Well, that is it for today. I'll see you all tomorrow.

This is me on YouTube! DIY Eye makeup remover

Hello everyone,

I have been thinking of making a YouTube video for a while, but lately I have had so much encouragement from my friends and so many requests via email from you, my lovely readers, that I've finally had the courage and the inspiration to grab the camera and film.

In this video, I am sharing with you, a natural way to make own make up remover. Quite easy, simple and effective. This will even remove waterproof mascara. I love it!

I have to say, I really enjoyed making the video and will have more coming soon as a new feature to the blog, with makeup and fashion tips. It's really good fun but I must admit, I am very much cringing at seeing myself on the screen for the first time, but I hope you guys will enjoy it!

(Cringe, oops... Looking a bit silly on the thumbnail picture!)

See you soon.

Vivienne Westwood Shoes Video by Pretty Portobello

Hi guys,

Very exciting! My first video on You Tube!

Yay! Passing by Selfridges today, I saw the exhibition 'Vivienne Westwood Shoes 1973-2010'. Really, really great and a real must see for any Westwood fan.
I knew I was going to see some shoes, which I have already shared the pictures with you, taken last year at the FNO, but there were some new designs on display as well as loads of Melissas shoes.

Anyways, I was so excited, that I decided to have my first attempt on You Tube! So, it's a chance if you don't live in London, to catch up with this fabulous exhibition . I hope you girls enjoy my amateur filming, laughs!

It's quite a long film (which took ages to upload!) and I hope I have captured the shoes well. There are ladies and men's shoes, so the boys can watch it too.

You can also catch up with this small compilation, the exhibition was long and a shoe heaven for any Westwood lover! Those are some of my favourite designs.

I hope you have enjoy it!

See you soon.
