The quotes in the article don't even imply the guy said AMOLED screens are better, only that there is only 3-5% less visible difference (using some of that creative math since the actual difference he states is 20%) between the AMOLED screens and Apple's new screen.
Even then it conveniently ignores the fact that AMOLED screens are completely useless outside.
In any case it's a weak and completely ineffectual attempt at muckraking.

Me either! Clerendon is definitely looking busy, so *hopefully* Reston will be alright. I've tried calling the store all day and cannot seem to get a response out of them on anything, much less when they'll let people line up, how many they'll have, etc.. =/

If you donate directly to the organizations involved (Red Cross etc) I can't imagine they'll be taking a cut...can they??
They live off of the donations themselves. It may be called Administative costs or something else but they take a cut for themselves. I think 15% is about average.

I remember having a similar problem back in the late 80s - I had a Commodore 64, which plugged into a PAL TV and had the British keyboard layout. When I first got a PC, it came with an American keyboard (as all PCs sold here do) and I had to get used to it.
Fast forward 15 years, put me in front of a British keyboard and my typing slows dramatically. So you'll get used to it.

This is indeed a well known issue with cubes. Some people were affected immediately, and others only after a period of time like you.
My cube has a 'seizure' about once every 4 months and it will do this for an hour or two and then correct itself and be fine again.
There have been numerous causes and solutions suggested and it appears that different things work for different machines.
The usual cause is the proximity switch - the touch sensitive one on top of the cube. Most people report that the switching on and off is caused by a badly fitting or loose gasket around this switch inside the cube.
Some people say that making sure this gasket is seated firmly will cure the problem, and others have had this replaced (for free) by Apple.
I have never found this to be the case with mine, it just seems to have a mind of its own, for short spells every now and again.
Some people have also reported that this happens on hot days or when the air-con is swithed off. I've not noticed this (as I live in the UK it never gets hot!).
There have been hundreds of discussions on this topic since the cube was introduced and you can probably find some useful info on the web.
I'm not sure why Apple have not provided more help on this topic given what a widespread issue it was/is, but I just searched Google for "Apple Cube Switch problem" and it came back with a lot of links. the shuffle can work as a usb thumb drive on mac and windows systems. in itunes, you need to designate how much space will be allocated for music, and how much for memory usage as a thumb drive (i.e., enable disk mode). i have a 1gb shuffle, and split it evenly to have 512mb for music and 512 for data. a windows machine may or may not need additional drivers to recognize the shuffle as a thumb drive, but other than that, you shouldn't encounter any issues. you can transfer any type of data you want - the only issue willl be whether or not the windows machine can open the mac documents. if the pages document is saved as a ".doc" item, the windows machine should have no problem. just make sure that the pc has the right software to open the mac document you want to transfer.

Full keyboards only have 88 keys, not 108.
There are many different smaller size keyboards available, 49, 61, etc.. Even very small ones. Just google the, lotsa choices. Don't bother getting a pressure sensitive keyboard unless you're already a proficient player.
If you're using Garageband, you can just use loops and not even bother with a keyboard.

The primary weakness of any computer is not the OS being used, but the user. Prudent computer users can't simply install some anti-virus app and think they're protected against any threat. Anti-virus isn't the solution. A Mac user who is aware of what kinds of malware exist and what kind of behaviors expose them to risk can operate malware-free without the need for anti-virus software.

so, since you own it how do you feel about it? What was the last mouse you used and how does it compare? What is your honest opinion about its battery life and tracking ability? What mouse pad are you using if its something other than your normal average joe mousepad. I was thinking about getting this mousepad (http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/accessories/6adc/) if it'll make a difference. Just lemme know...

I'm a first time renter, looking for an apartment/studio in Manhattan. I was hoping to not have to go through brokers and such and just use listings online. But now the more I look, the more I'm afraid I'm going to get scammed, even though rental scams seems to be relatively rare.
So there's this one listing, where the contact number for the person is a landline in Seattle. The listing is even a "featured listing" on the website. Another one's phone number is a landline in Syracuse. Is it possible that these people (I suppose they could be startup real estate agents) are doing business while they're not here? And what happens if I actually call? Also, there's a listing that has the phone number of a design company in New York.
Then there's this landlord/agent I've been corresponding to via email. This apartment has been listed at numerous rental websites (the free kind). And the person only has one listing. Which makes sense, since she says she owns the unit. Except she puts herself as part of a realty company, whose name starts with her last name.
The price is quite low for the area, but she did email me a rental application form. And at least her number is in New York.
She offers a discount if you pay 3 months upfront, more if you pay even more upfront. I was thinking of paying 3 month upfront, but I'm afraid that she's going to bail and disappear. Plus I'm not moving in until about 4 months later, so there's plenty of empty time in between that she can disappear on me.
So exactly what should I ask/do to make sure the listing/landlords are legit? And since I'm not moving in for months, should I wait until what, a week before moving in to pay them the security and rent?
