New talent Nora Deak

Hi guys,

First of all, I would like to welcome all the new followers to the blog. Thank you SO much guys! Thanks for all the kind comments too.

So, I am very excited about today's post! Last week, while at the Alternative Fashion Show in Spitalfields, I came across this stall and immediately loved what I saw.

With a small but very innovative collection, Nora Deak is a cool and promissing fashion designer. She is a lovely and very down to earth girl, with loads of talent just finishing her last year at the London College of Fashion, ready to show her final collection.

I was excited to come across a new talent and also such a nice person. She didn't mind me taking those pictures and we had quite a nice chat... and I am so happy I am able to share some of her work with you too.

Talking a little bit about her work and inspiration for this collection: 'Contradiction' is based on romanticism and transformer robots and it aims to depict the metamorphosis of these completely different themes when they meet and create something new.

Enjoy!

I really loved that I had the chance to look at her beautiful portfolio and sketches.

Meet Nora in front of her stall in Spitalfields.

I also asked Nora a little info about herself. She is originally from Budapest, (Hungary) where she had first studied business. As she's a creative person, she was always drawing, painting and sewing and working as an accountant, was not for her! She then decided to change her career, following her vocation, applying at Budapest Fashion School for a 2 years course, later deciding to come to London to further her studies. She was accepted at the LCF and now finishing any time soon.

Good luck, girlie!

William Rast show ft. Justin Timberlake at Selfridges

Hello,

Tonight I was off to see the show of fashion label 'William Rast', the brainchild of Justin Timberlake and friend Trace Ayala, which is being sold at Selfridges where the show was held.

The womenswear collection is tomboyish with a touch of femininity. The collection uses men’s tailoring and body conscious silhouettes to flatter the female form with a focus on leather jackets, printed silk tops and immaculately fitted denims.

My friend Susan invited me to this event. A hot summer evening it was, so we enjoyed our cocktails!

What?

Julien Macdonald London fashion week show s/s 2010- Part 2

Hello,

Hi guys, here as promised loads of pictures from Julien Macdonald's show.

For starters, the venue. The Horticultural building were the show was held was amazing, I'll give you an idea of how it was...

The entrance of the building is very beautiful in 1930's art deco style, a grand big hall which I quickly passed through, led us to this one big room. Once inside, there were high ceilings in a brick building with huge glass panel windows, the room had a lovely old school industrial feel to it. The decoration was like a garden. There were Italian bronze statues and a grass patch where the seats were, the catwalk was a gravel patch which went all over the room, like in Paris in the old days... (a great view for everyone). It was like the models were cat-walking in some beautiful garden in Italy somewhere, feeling the heat of the flashes and the lighting, it really took us there. :)
Luckily there were some strawberry drinks to keep us hydrated!

To follow came a dash of black! Love the detail on the side of the leggings and the structured blazer, killing shoulders but mostly loving the sharp waist.

I also love this dress with a shredded look to it. It has a nude body con dress which goes underneath and it was shown in white/back and white/red variations.

A gorgeous and daring detail on the back of this cocktail dress.

I totally heart this look, the top is so modern and futuristic. I love the way the colours were combined, with different fabrics and textures to it. The model also makes the look, I'm loving this girl and her hair is so cool.

Jacquetta Wheeler, looking fab in this shinny mac.

A cute futuristic dress. Mini dresses were very much the look, colours mixing black, white, gray, nudes and red are to invest.

(I actually screamed when they came!)

Love this romantic nude look. I could easily get married wearing this!

Another LOVE of mine is this dress! Amazing fabric and details on a degrade brocade ribbon over a nude dress complete with beautiful structured shoulders. I want one right NOW!

Julian Louie for Aldo

Hi guys,

A close up of my new wedges from the fantastic collaboration between Julian Louie and Aldo.
I was wearing them a few posts back and I was so lucky to find a pair, after reading pretty much everywhere they had been sold out. I love them truly and dearly, I think the print and the patchwork detail is amazing and I am so into navajo and ikat prints, so in my eyes they could not be more perfect!

It was real ♥ at first sight.

I was showing them to friend of mine and she said they were horrible! It really made me laugh because I think they are so amazing. How about you? What do you think of them?

See you soon.

I'm back

Hi guys,

I hope you all have been well. As you guys can see I decided to take a little break from blogging, there was so much I needed to do that I had to have some time for myself.
First of all I had to really try to tidy my all my clothes, something I've been meaning to do for ages. It took me a couple of days to do this because I'm not the quickest person when it comes to being ruthless, chucking away old stuff and separating things to sell. I went through pretty much everything I got and as I was going through it all, it became a bit easier to start de-hoarding.
Anyways, I gathered a load of things and went to the Portobello Market to sell them all.

It was a good day, the weather was beautiful and therefore the market was very quiet, still I managed to sell a few bits (better than nothing) but came home with a bag full. Now, I'm thinking to sell the rest on Ebay, if I have enough patience for it.

In the meantime, I have also discovered a great, natural and cheap body scrub. Used coffee grains! Yeah, it's great to exfoliate the skin and also it's a good skin stimulator, so it works well against cellulite.
A friend of mine told me about it a while back, then last week after making a coffee on the cafetiere, I decided not to throw the used coffee away and gave it a try. I swear, my skin was so smooth, it almost fell like I had oiled my legs.
I simply applied the coffee directly on my skin and scrubbed myself in circular movements, the granules have a great consistency and are quite gentle. Don't worry you won't smell of coffee but I would recommend you to shower with a soap afterwards.

There are many options for a natural scrub, together with the coffee you can also mix brown sugar (for a coarser consistency) and almond oil but I think just the coffee on it's own work wonders anyways.
You can also let the coffee dry and store it in a jar afterwards, ready for the next time.

See you soon.

New in my wardrobe

Hi guys,

Today some pictures of what's new in my wardrobe! Come and have the first peep...

The last couple of weeks I have been tempted by the sales and also by the sun, the weather is getting warmer and so some new things for Spring/Summer were needed.

-Click on the picture to enlarge.

From Jigsaw, I got this lovely trilby hat. I really loved it because of it's bi-colour black and brown ribbon and I also had my eye on this heavily studded belt for a while so I just had to get it too. It's already one of my favourite's in my belt collection.

From H&M, I bought a couple of druzy rings! They are pretty cool and they come in 2 different colours, brown and peach. As you can see I could not resist and got both. Adding to my basket a couple of plimsolls, I was looking for something simple and cheap to wear for Summer, I must say I have never worn a pair of plimsolls before, although I have not gone out with them yet they seem to be very comfortable. (Let's hope they are.)

From Topshop, I bought stuff that was on the sale. So, I was over the moon when I found the Navajo poncho (on the floor) but looking brand new and I managed to find a cute skull tshirt too. It's my third Navajo poncho I know but I could not resist in a new colour!

See you soon.
