I'm back

Hi guys,

I hope you all have been well. As you guys can see I decided to take a little break from blogging, there was so much I needed to do that I had to have some time for myself.
First of all I had to really try to tidy my all my clothes, something I've been meaning to do for ages. It took me a couple of days to do this because I'm not the quickest person when it comes to being ruthless, chucking away old stuff and separating things to sell. I went through pretty much everything I got and as I was going through it all, it became a bit easier to start de-hoarding.
Anyways, I gathered a load of things and went to the Portobello Market to sell them all.

It was a good day, the weather was beautiful and therefore the market was very quiet, still I managed to sell a few bits (better than nothing) but came home with a bag full. Now, I'm thinking to sell the rest on Ebay, if I have enough patience for it.

In the meantime, I have also discovered a great, natural and cheap body scrub. Used coffee grains! Yeah, it's great to exfoliate the skin and also it's a good skin stimulator, so it works well against cellulite.
A friend of mine told me about it a while back, then last week after making a coffee on the cafetiere, I decided not to throw the used coffee away and gave it a try. I swear, my skin was so smooth, it almost fell like I had oiled my legs.
I simply applied the coffee directly on my skin and scrubbed myself in circular movements, the granules have a great consistency and are quite gentle. Don't worry you won't smell of coffee but I would recommend you to shower with a soap afterwards.

There are many options for a natural scrub, together with the coffee you can also mix brown sugar (for a coarser consistency) and almond oil but I think just the coffee on it's own work wonders anyways.
You can also let the coffee dry and store it in a jar afterwards, ready for the next time.

See you soon.

Trend- Yellow nail varnish

Hi guys,

With Chanel on the lead once again, the yellow nail varnish trend seems to be strong for the Summer. The first yellow attempt from Chanel was part of a special collection. The varnish was called L.A. sunshine, you still can buy it via Amazon but I suppose it didn't take off massively because I don't think it was an international release as Mimosa, which has been yet again another success from the French house.

If Chanel is too much for your budget, there are many options to chose from. Here is a selection of my favourites.

Yellow and not mellow! I shall try.

My favourite perfumes ever

Hi guys,

I wanted to write a post about perfume, it's been a while. I absolutely adore fragrances, as I am a little bit addicted to scents but nothing over the top.
Along the years I have collected many bottles, fragrances that for one reason or another I just fell in love with. In the past, I used to wear something different everyday but for the last couple of years I have been wearing Agent Provocateur almost everyday, so I believe I may have found my favourite scent. Still, I need to down size my collection, it will take me a while but as long as I don't buy anything, it should be fine.

I picked 10 of my favourite bottles at home, one for every mood!

1. Agent Provocateur - Agent Provocateur
The 'marmite' of fragrances, you love it or you hate it. It's rosy, powdery, almost an old lady-ish smell... some people may say. For me, it's the most amazing scent in the world, I just adore the mix of saffron and roses. Feminine, intriguing and above all sensual. The one!

2. Eau de Emmotionelle - Agent Provocateur
After my fascination with the original pink version, I decided to try the summer version. I love it too, it's has some of the original notes in it and some white musk which makes it much softer, changing the scent too. Not so in your face, I find this fragrance very comforting. Perfect for summery days.

3. Dune - Christian Dior.
I also wore this fragrance for a couple of years in a row. I had a friend who wore it and I loved so much that I 'copied' her. It brings me a lot of good memories. A beautiful floral fragrance, long lasting. I get many comments when I am wearing it, so I suppose it really suits my skin.

4. Amarige - Givenchy.
In my teens, Amarige was the second fragrance I fell in love with (the first one was Lou Lou). I still love it's floral bouquet and femininity. I normally wear it when it's really cold.

5. A Men - Thierry Mugler.
This one is the masculine version of the famous Angel. I love both, but I prefer A Men because it's just like Angel but cheaper and more subtle. Great for Summer too.

6. Boudoir - Vivienne Westwood
Tuberose infused, this fragrance is one of the strongest I own, strictly for Winter only. It's a scent that stay with you all day... lingers and lingers. I have to be in my Cruella de Vil mood for this! I prefer when I have just sprayed on rather than when it has worn a bit off.

7. Volupte - Oscar De La Renta
This one is a an oldy... Again, it was another scent that I fell in love with in my teens. A spicy smell that has nothing to do with coriander at all, but it reminds me of it. I found the 100 ml bottle on sale for £20, a bargain, I had to buy it. Funnily enough, I think this is the fragrance my boyfriend likes the most since he's not very keen on AP for instance!

8. Aromatics Elixir - Clinique.
This is a heady perfume. After trying a sample, I thought it was a grown up fragrance, so I decided to buy it. The strangest thing is although this smell is very strong, distinctive and a bit hippie, like a child from the 70's, I like it to wear in Summer days. I don't think I am supposed to, but I do. So far no complaints.

9. Opium Eau D'ete - YSL.
This was a limited Summer fragrance. It's based on the perfume Opium but in a much lighter way. Reminds me of the smell of incense and that's why I love it so much. Just like an Indian Summer, or how I expect one to be.

10. Laughter - Space NK.
I think this is a unisex fragrance, which I got as a gift. I like it because it's clean and very summery, the perfect scent for holidays. It reminds me of Barcelona, just because when I spent some time there, I was bathing myself with it everyday. Felt very fresh!

Are you addicted to scents? Tell me which one is your favourite and why?

See you soon.

Trend - Baby Blue Nail Varnish

Hi guys,

I was missing a post dedicated to nail varnish as much as I miss having my nails done.

Nail varnish wise, the flavour of the moment seems to be the latest Chanel colour, called Riva. Back in May, when the Cruise collection was shown in Saint-Tropez, Riva was the 'no name' nail varnish seen on the models. Immediately the colour was much talked and blogged about, there was so much speculation about the colour, but Chanel kept it secret, knowing very well that making us wait would cause consumer madness. Well, finally Riva is due to be released at the end of this month, so be ready to queue up once more!

Nail blogger, Lacquerized, has already tried a swatch for us. Riva is very nice and very different from Nouvelle Vague. The most amazing thing is that she has already found a dupe for it (clever girl!).
She compares it with 'Moody blue' from China Glaze, unfortunately a colour which has now been discontinued. The match is almost perfect.

Luckily for us there are many options and beautiful colours available at the moment for you to keep up with the trend.
I have just selected a few. Check it out!

This is me on YouTube! DIY Eye makeup remover

Hello everyone,

I have been thinking of making a YouTube video for a while, but lately I have had so much encouragement from my friends and so many requests via email from you, my lovely readers, that I've finally had the courage and the inspiration to grab the camera and film.

In this video, I am sharing with you, a natural way to make own make up remover. Quite easy, simple and effective. This will even remove waterproof mascara. I love it!

I have to say, I really enjoyed making the video and will have more coming soon as a new feature to the blog, with makeup and fashion tips. It's really good fun but I must admit, I am very much cringing at seeing myself on the screen for the first time, but I hope you guys will enjoy it!

(Cringe, oops... Looking a bit silly on the thumbnail picture!)

I had to try - Blue lipstick by Lime Crime

Hello guys,

How to get WELL noticed on the streets? Just wear this blue lipstick by Lime Crime!

I wanted so much to try this lipstick. The only trouble is that I quickly slapped on, as I was applying it with a brush, trying at the shop. I am not very good with lip brushes anyway and therefore I didn't have enough patience to apply it properly. Ideally, I should have taken my time to do a few extra coats to obtain the real vibrancy of it. Still, even the colour being as wishy-washy as it was I never got so many looks in one year as I did walking the 3 blocks from Space NK to my place!

So what do I think of it? I think this colour is really good fun and I like the fact this lipstick is matte, as I said before I believe it would look nicer if I had gone for the more vibrant look.
Make up wise, everything would have to change to use this colour decently, eyes not as heavy as here and a colourful blusher to add some life to my face is super required!

blue lipstick

Would I buy it and wear it? Yes I would, although it would take me some time to get used to it too. Specially if I want to be noticed by everyone on the streets!
Well at least I tried it ;-)

Graffiti nails

Hi guys,

Hope you all have been well. I am finally recovering from a horrible cold, which took my energy away for the last few days, I am glad to be feeling myself again and happy to be blogging.

I am posting today about this new nail varnish from a brand, which I hadn't heard of before, a Swedish brand called 'IsaDora'. I came across their American website, but I have not been able to find anywhere selling on the UK yet.

Here is the look, a cool, rock and roll graffiti nail varnish! To achieve this look you simply paint your nails with any desired colour as the base and then you apply this magic IsaDora top coat, which in seconds as it dries, starts to crack, producing the graffiti effect. Easy.

Picture from blog neglelakkmani

There are many colours to choose from for your top graffiti coat! It would be interesting to see them mixed.

I WANT IT NOW!

So, I would love to try this look... I really liked the white and black combination and the yellow and black too. If anyone knows where to buy IsaDora in the UK , please let me know!

See you soon.

Yay or Nay? Colourful lipstick

Great nail colour - Lady Gaga for Vanity fair.

Hi guys,

I am sure most of you have already seen the new British Vanity Fair, September issue, with Lady Gaga on the cover. I think she looks quite pretty and there were 2 things in particular in this cover which I really liked, the colour of Lady Gaga's hair and also the weird colour of her nail varnish, which is a mixture of a light taupe grey. Very cool!

If you are also wondering where is her nail polish from, the answer is American brand Deborah Lippman. Prices around $18, a reasonable price but unfortunately they only ship to America.

Lady Gaga colour is 'Waking up in Vegas' and it's one of the brand's top seller. There are some very nice glittery colours, coming for winter such as ' Bad Romance' and 'Across the universe'.
It's the first time that I come across this website and they do have some amazing colours, I really loved it... I am already placing orders with my friends living in the USA.

See you all later...

My YSL inspired manicure

Hi guys,

Just a couple of days ago, I posted some pictures of the new YSL nail varnishes, due to come out next month. I really loved the twisted french manicure so much that I decided to try it myself. Why should we wait?

I am finally improving with my nail varnish application, with the help of different blogs and following many step by steps on how to apply the nail varnishes, I am definitely improving. Saying that, for the person who would never do a nail swatch on the blog, I am actually very proud to display my nails. Still a lot of room for improvement, I know but practice will make it perfect.

So this was my first attempt of the YSL manicure. I am quite happy with the results! I also had the help of my beloved and from now on he will have to help me with some of my nail ideas, it's so handy have an extra pair of hands!

For this look, I was going to use Chanel 'Nouvelle Vague' and this navy blue I found from 'Wet n' Wild' but the application of the Chanel was terrible, so streaky that I gave up and started all over again using this lovely cyan blue from 'Barry M'.

I love this look and I am in love with my nails! What do you think of them? Is it something you would try?

See you soon.

My make up drawer

Hey guys,

I wanted to post about my make up it's been ages! My make up drawer was in need of some tiding up and today was the perfect day to take everything out of it and take some pictures. Now it's the time to have a sneaky peak on my make up essentials !
(It's been a little bit of a mess, so excuse me for the make up marks on the products.)

I am very much an eyeshadow girl as you guys will see and in this drawer I store MOST of my eyeshadows not of all of them... I still have loads of palettes hidden here and there... I could not find everything really, but these are certainly the ones I use the most.
My favourite eyeshadow brands are: Bourjois, Mac, YSL, Lancome, anything with loads of pigment on.
I am really hooked on 'dusters' or pigmented eyeshadow. I can really work with them to change any other colour, after I came across the dusted eyeshadow my life changed.
(Click on the picture to see the whole lot of eyeshadows!)

I have a huge collection of blue and green eyeshadows! They are most definitely my favourite colours... everything from eyeliners, pencils to mascara, my favourite mascara is navy blue, when I can find it, I'll stock loads on it again.

Some purple and pinks, I love them too.

make up eyeshadows

And some natural colours can also be found! I love metallic such as gold and silver and some days I tone down with browns and bronzes. Yes, I do.

make up eyeshadows

Below some face products... I do wear foundation everyday, so I like a really light one, sometimes I use a little highlighter too on my cheeks, just to brighten up a little. Also pictured 2 of my favourite blushers, a load of mascaras which I never remembered having that many (just found another 2 in some other drawer later!).
Some liquid eyeliners, day to day version by Maybelline, a star quality by Lancome (changing cartridges) and colourful ones by YSL, which are precise and easy to apply, honestly the best of the bunch!

make up

I also was re-encountered with loads of lip glosses, which I haven't worn in ages as well as some lipsticks... I wanted a dark red lipstick and I just came across one! I honestly could not remember getting that, what a great surprise. I don't seem to have a great memory with my make up as I do with my clothes!
Eye pencils and lip pencils are on the other side, I do have some repeated colours, as you guys can see. Just paranoid in case I could not find those colours again I bought 2 at the same time! I do that all the time, btw.

make up

Part 1 of the make up drawer mission is done! If you are interested in any shades or have any questions, just drop me a message.

Are you mad about make up too? C'mon time to confess your sins!

See you soon.

Bold and bright make up inspiration

Hello guys,

Today's post is about make up, in fact I feel very inspired to talk about make up again... I have always been a girl of strong colours and I love really colourful eyeshadows and nail varnishes, so I was more than excited with some pictures I am posting here tonight.

My first set is inspired by block of colour and beautiful shades which go well together.

I am posting some of the make up pictures from the latest Dior haute couture show (A/W 2011), beautifully inspired by flowers.

Every season, Dior comes up with the most innovative and beautiful make up for their catwalk shows. I am a huge fan! I have a collection of some of my favourite Dior looks and certainly this new season has already been added to my list.

Second set of the night is about the new YSL limited edition nail varnish collection, 'Rock et baroque' which is due to be released next month.

With a twist on the usual french manicure, I loved the idea of having a colourful and yet very chic frenchie, with great bright colours that compliment each other beautifully.

I think the turquoise and purple is my favourite duo...

...Although the gold and purple do look very chic together! Ultimately, I am loving the purple most!
Purple will be most definitely the 'it' shade for the winter.

'Beautiful night' duo pictured above, seems to be a a purple aubergine colour, interesting.

Fiery red tomato and magenta is the last duo.

'Rock et baroque' nail varnishes will be sold as a duo with prices around €45.

See you tomorrow, with some more make up... I shall share my make up drawer with you!

xoxo
